Big Brother 2016’s ratings held up last night, as the first highlights show retained the most viewers ever post-launch last as 1.36 million viewers tuned in.
Whilst the launch show on Tuesday averaged 1.39 million (excluding plus 1), a healthy figure of 1.36 watched the main show on Channel 5 last night (again, excluding plus 1), with a 9.1% share. Usually, figures drop between 20-25%.
In comparison, last year the equivalent highlights show drew in 1.19 million, despite having a higher launch show figure. Tuesday’s launch also faced some stiffer competition from the EU Referendum Debate on ITV and Love Island on ITV2.
Whilst Channel 5 Director Ben Frow commented on the launch night ratings as “challenging”, he will no doubt be more pleased with last nights figures.
Big Brother continues tonight at the earlier time of 9pm on Channel 5.
