Endemol planning major extension to the Big Brother house
The Big Brother house in Borehamwood, Elstree could be about to get one of it’s biggest ever revamps since it was first constructed in 2002.
The production company who makes the show – Endemol Shine Group has applied to Hertsmere Borough Council to expand the set at Elstree Studios, and would create extra interior space for the house, a new garden and new eviction stage.
The planning application states that Endemol would like the application approved by March 17 – which would allow for the work to be carried out ahead of the summer series.
In the planning application submitted to Hertsmere Borough Council, Endemol said:
It is vital for the longevity of the show that it is constantly evaluated and refreshed, and Endemol and Channel Five want to make some changes to the set for the next and subsequent series. This application seeks to extend the set of the Big Brother House at the north east corner and to create an additional external area within the compound of the Big Brother House.
Endemol also wrote in its planning application that the present interview area is “unsuitable for use in bad weather conditions”, so they want to add a new set for this.
Celebrity Big Brother wraps up it’s latest series on Friday, February 5 at 9pm on Channel 5.
