Celebrity Big Brother set for ITV revival?

Media publisher Broadcast is today reporting that Celebrity Big Brother could be set for a revival, airing on ITV1 in 2024.

A second series of the civilian edition is already in the works for 2024, the news was learned from ITV exec Paul Mortimer at the Edinburgh TV Festival in August.

However, Broadcast today revealed that celebrity iteration of the reality series is also under development, and set to air on ITV1 rather than ITV2, where the current series is currently playing Sunday-Friday at 9pm.

A spokespersom from ITV commented: “At present we are focused on the current series of Big Brother and any announcements regarding future series will be made in due course.”

Since its inception, Big Brother has regularly aired celebrity editions of the series on both of its predecessor channels (Channel 4 and Channel 5), beginning in March 2001 on Channel 4 and BBC One as a one-time special in aid of Red Nose Day.

Previous winners of the Celebrity edition have included Australian drag queen Courtney Act, popstar Sarah Harding and reality TV personality Scotty T.

This celebrity edition of the reality series is currently anticipated to air in the Spring of next year, however this is subject to change.
