Channel 5 announce Big Brother is to end ‘later this month’

Following comments made by Emma Willis, Channel 5 have revealed that the current series of Big Brother, expected to last 63 days, has been cut short and will now be ending sometime in July.

This will make it the shortest series to date with a maximum of 55 days.

Schedules released on Wednesday still have the show on 63 episode, the same number announced when the show began last month.

The revelation came after show host, Emma Willis, announced that there were only 3 and a half weeks left during her weekly vlog for the Big Brother website.

A spokesperson for Channel 5 earlier confirmed to Big Blagger that the current season will end ‘later this month’.

No reason for the sudden change has been given, with ratings having held steady against stiff competition from rival itv reality show, Love Island and Euro 2016 coverage.

It is possible that the broadcaster wishes to avoid further drops in ratings, due to the Rio 2016 olympics which is due to launch on August 5th.

The news cast doubt over the launch of the latest series of Celebrity Big Brother which was touted to commence mere days after the end of the current series. This may now be pushed back to avoid clashes with the olympics. It is also possible that we may now see an extended Celebrity run.
