Big Brother made it’s eagerly anticipated return last night on ITV, bringing with the shows best civilian launch rating in a decade.
The launch episode was simulcast over ITV1, ITV2 & ITVX.
2m (15.3%) tuned in to watch the episode on ITV1, while on ITV2 an audience of 524k (4.1%) tuned in – bringing a combined rating to 2.5m (20%).
Previously, the final episode of Big Brother aired on Channel 5 on a Monday 9pm slot in September 2018 to 1.6m (10.3%), it had averaged 632,000 (5.3%) for its final series.
Big Brother won the 9pm slot ahead of it’s competition.
Big Brother’s ITV premiere did outperform that of it’s final launch on Channel 5 which saw just 900,000 people tune in.
