2nd housemate evicted from Big Brother house
Big Brother’s second eviction took place took place tonight, with Gani Khan leaving the famous house after receiving the most votes from the public.
The new series, which launched last Sunday, had already seen its first shock departure when 25-year-old Conservative Emily was eliminated on the very first night. Alongside Caroline and Sam, she had been marked with the dreaded “evil eye,” and the trio were forced to decide amongst themselves who would leave after just a few hours inside.
On Friday, hosts AJ Odudu and Will Best revealed that Gani was the next to go, losing out to fellow nominee Zelah Glasson.
In a twist brought on by Storm Amy, Gani’s exit was far from the usual spectacle. With the weather forcing the show to cancel its live outdoor set and audience, he left quietly through the back door. Will Best was waiting to greet him in the corridor, before the interview segment was moved to the Late and Live studio instead.
Gani’s eviction came just a day after he shocked fans with a candid revelation about his personal life. Speaking to housemate Jenny, he explained that while exploring his bisexuality after moving to the UK from India, his father had pressured him into marriage. In January 2024, he wed his cousin — and the pair now share a 10-month-old son.
“I was so open-minded, even coming from a religious background,” Gani told Jenny. “From 2022 to 2024 I was really exploring bisexuality. But at the end of 2023 my dad suddenly said, ‘How long are you going to avoid marriage? Please marry.’ I couldn’t say no.”
Although he admitted that “married life wasn’t for him,” the confession left Jenny stunned.
Big Brother continues Sunday at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX.
