Endemol Shine UK – the production company behind Big Brother have been granted planning permission by Hertsmere Borough Council to extend the Big Brother House and erect a new eviction stage at it’s Elstree compound.
The planning application was submitted by Endemol in January. The local authority – Hertsmere Borough Council held a meeting yesterday to discuss the proposals, where they were given unanimous approval by councillors. Cllr Farida Turner said: “I am very proud of the studio and they should be allowed to go through with their proposal.”
The Big Brother House in Elstree, Borehamwood will now undergo it’s biggest change since being first built in 2002 – The show was originally broadcast from Three Mills Studios in Bow.
Amongst the new changes will be a new 700/sqm extension to the Big Brother House including an additional garden. There will also be a new eviction stage and exterior set.
Big Brother returns to Channel 5 for it’s 17th series in June.
